Getting your family out and about in Fuerteventura
Whether you’re in need of some winter sun or just a gorgeous break in a sunny paradise, Fuerteventura is perfect - but once you get there, do you want to spend your whole trip in the hotel? If not, listen up! Fuerteventura has lots of fantastic family friendly activities that are perfect for getting your family out and about.
There was a ton to choose from but here are some of our favourites!
When we think about Fuerteventura and the Canary Islands in general, we think about beautiful beaches so why not spend some time seeing the other side of these unique islands. Rent a dune buggy, get off road and start exploring these spectacular landscapes. Your kids won't forget it and the whole family will love the wild adventure. You can rent dune buggies at a ton of places across the island and tours are available if you’re not comfortable heading out alone.
A great trip out for both parents and kids. You can enjoy the gorgeous views around the coast of Jandia while soaking in the sun and sailing around on a real Spanish Schooner. What about the kids you say? Well, the staff are incredible, making this a very fun, family friendly boat trip with lots of supervised treasure hunts and pirate games. The trip also includes stops for swimming time and lunch. If you’re really lucky, when you’re relaxing onboard, you’ll have some dolphins swimming alongside you.
For those with mini David Attenboroughs, a visit to Oasis Wildlife Fuerteventura can’t be missed. Home to over 3,000 animals, a great children's’ play area and the island’s only botanical garden, there’s something for everyone here. Oasis Wildlife Fuerteventura is a more interactive experience than a typical zoo but if you’re looking to get even closer, check out their animal experiences. You can become an elephant or giraffe zookeeper, ride a camel or even swim with sea lions. Lots of experiences that will never be forgotten and, don’t forget, the cost of these experiences goes towards their work helping these animals in the wild.
4. Isla de Lobos
If you’re looking for somewhere a little different to get away to, Isla de Lobos may be perfect. It’s a picturesque island off the coast that you can reach in around 15 minutes from Corralejo. It’s a protected area with stunning white beaches, crystal clear water and lots of wildlife. The water at the beaches is pretty shallow so it's a great place for kids to paddle. There’s very few tourist attractions on the island and there’s only one restaurant on the island so we recommend booking lunch when you arrive and don’t forget your sunscreen!
Open from April to November, you won’t want to miss Fuerteventura’s only Water Park. There’s kamikaze slides for your thrillseekers, lots of family fun to be had in the wave pool and even a lazy river when you need that quiet time away. There's plenty of options for lunch so there's no need to rush home. Just pull up a sun bed, go down a few slides and have some great family fun.
